Nutra Organics Roasted Carob Powder is a pure product. No chemical refining or bleaching here, and nothing artificial added, just pure wholefood goodness.
What’s so good about Carob powder? Carobs (which is plural because they are lots of them in a pod) are high in antioxidants, calcium, magnesium, potassium and is naturally caffeine free. Carobs also contain gallic acid – which is antibacterial, antiviral and antiseptic! Carobs are full bodied and naturally very sweet with a smooth malty taste.
How is Carob powder made? Carobs are grown on a tree and look like a big brown snow pea pod. The carobs are then separated from the pod, roasted, and finely milled. Australian quality is far superior to imported carob and is much sweeter as well.
How do I use Carob powder? Carob powder is a perfect substitute for cocoa or cacao in recipes. Adding carob in a 1 to 1 ratio in any recipe that calls for cocoa – but is naturally sweet so you should be able to reduce the added sugar! Make hot carob drinks, add to baking or icing – perfect for pancakes, muffins or smoothies.
